Martin Health System Provides a Continuum of Care

Founded in 1939, Martin Health System has grown tremendously over the years in order to meet the needs of residents in Martin and St. Lucie Counties. With three acute care hospitals, a free-standing emergency center, numerous outpatient centers and clinics, and a walk-in MediCenter, Martin Health offers a continuum of care for community members of all ages.

The nonprofit community-based health care organization offers preventive, primary and acute hospital care, as well as cancer care, a heart center, wellness and rehabilitation services, and more at 13 different locations. The health system employs approximately 4,500 associates between the two counties, ranging from physicians and nurses to support staff and professional service providers.

Martin Health Physician Group has more than 100 physicians who are board-certified in specialties ranging from family practice to neurosurgery. Established in 1995, Martin Health Physician Group’s doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and staff have years of experience looking after the health of Treasure Coast residents.

A Summary of Services at Martin Health System

Martin Medical Center

Martin Health’s flagship hospital is located in the heart of Stuart where it began in 1939 as Martin County Hospital. The hospital features 244 beds and treats patients with major illnesses, injuries and life-threatening symptoms. The campus of Martin Medical Center is home to the Frances Langford Heart Center, the Back and Spine Center, the Robert and Carol Weissman Cancer Center, an Orthopaedic Specialty Center and a Minimally Invasive Surgery Center.

The Frances Langford Heart Center offers a full spectrum of cardiac care including: transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR); diagnostic and interventional services such as angioplasty and coronary artery stenting; and open-heart surgery.

The Robert and Carol Weissman Cancer Center combines medical expertise with advanced technology to provide exceptional oncology care close to home. Services include radiation oncology, infusion suite, oncology rehabilitation, clinical social work, medical nutrition therapy and the Center for Lung Health. The Martin Health cancer program is a center of excellence accredited by the Commission on Cancer.

Martin Hospital South

This 100-bed hospital in Stuart provides treatment to patients with major illnesses, injuries and life-threatening symptoms. Many orthopaedic surgical cases are performed at Hospital South. In addition to inpatient and emergency care, the hospital offers diagnostic imaging, family and pediatric physicians, outpatient lab, health and fitness, and rehabilitation.

Tradition Medical Center

Tradition Medical Center in west Port St. Lucie opened in December 2013 and is a state-of-the-art 90-bed acute care hospital. The hospital offers general and specialized medical care, general and specialized surgical services, an interventional lab, full diagnostic imaging capability and laboratory services. An expansion underway at Tradition Medical Center, to be completed in Fall 2017, will double the size of the hospital and add 90 inpatient beds.

Martin Health Physician Group

The multi-specialty Martin Health Physician Group serves residents of Martin and St. Lucie Counties, providing convenient access to doctors they can trust with their ongoing health care needs. The physician group also offers a secure, online health connection through shared electronic medical records.

Martin Health and Fitness Centers

Martin Health operates three health and fitness centers to provide options for staying healthy and fit. Located in Hobe Sound, Stuart and Palm City, these are the only medically directed fitness centers on the Treasure Coast. The health and fitness staff at Martin Health have specialized training with advanced certifications and provide members with personal instruction, individualized exercise programs, fitness assessments and other services.
